Whai Fun!

This week is Maori Language week. We are celebrating during maths time by trying new ideas. Today we used Whai (string) to create different shapes and patterns. Boy, did we show perseverance and lots of "GRIT".

What fun we had at skipping on the 3rd June.We had been practising to improve our skills! We had some visitors come and join in with us too!!

How many picnic mats will fit on the mat?

We had to work with a buddy to find out how many plates would fit on the AREA of the picnic mat. Great team work. Can you see the numbers we wrote?

Marvellous Maths

Problem: Mrs Henare's pool cover has ripped and she needs to sew a new cover big enough to cover the area of the pool. How can Mrs Henare do that with the bits of material she has?

She doesn't want the neighbours leaves to get in so there can't be any holes.

A New Shower "AREA"

Mrs Henare's shower has a crack in the bottom and we need to create a new shower bottom for her. We need to use 12 tiles and it needs to be a wide shower bottom. What might your shower bottom look like? Show your design

We have been learning about insects and how they help us.We made collage pictures of spiders and labeled their body parts.
